Ministry for Environment
The Ministry for Environment (MfE) develop, implement and coordinate a vast range of environmental programmes and educational initiatives. MfE administers the key environmental statutes in New Zealand including the Resource Management Act (1991) and the Emissions Trading and Renewable Energy Act (2008).
The MfE, through the Sustainable Management Fund, has provided the bulk of the funding to develop our TLC.

Ministry for Economic Development - Envirostep
The Ministry of Economic Development has developed Envirostep - a free, entry-level environmental management tool for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in New Zealand. Envirostep provides users with:
- An environmental performance score & profile.
- Recommendations (to reduce operating costs, environmental impacts & risk).
- An action plan (to implement selected recommendations).
- Over 300 links to other environmental tools, service providers & further information.
SMEs using Envirostep will get a better understanding of their environmental issues and opportunities, and the practical steps they can take to manage them.
